How do you choose the right gusset for your Stand Up Pouch?
Stand Up Pouches can have three different gusset shapes:
• Round Bottom gusset (also called a Doyen gusset)
• K Seal gusset
• Plow Bottom gusset (also called a W Fold gusset)
Choosing the right gusset shape for your Stand Up Pouch is very important!
**Round Bottom gussets are best for lightweight products and create a sturdy presentation on the shelf.
**K Seal gussets are best for midweight products, and also create a solid presentation on the shelf.
Both Round Bottom and K Seal gussets keep your product elevated off of the shelf surface. Since the weight of the product is supported fully by the pouch, heavy products won't do well with these gussets and can even crush the bottom of your Stand Up Pouch.
**Plow Bottom gussets have no seam at the bottom, allowing the shelf surface to support most of the product weight. That's why these are the best for packaging products weighing two pounds and above.
