Years ago, IHOP promised that by 2020, it would eliminate the cruel confinement of mother pigs in gestation crates from its pork supply chain. But the company broke that promise. IHOP has also promised to stop using eggs from chickens confined in tiny cages switch to 100% cage-free eggs but has barely made any progress whatsoever. This abuse must end.

In 2013, IHOP’s parent company (Dine Brands) promised that by 2020 it would stop sourcing pork from supply systems that confine mother pigs in gestation crates. Today, nearly a decade later, the company’s website states that only 23% of its pork is produced without the use of these torturous cages.

IHOP has also promised to stop using eggs from chickens confined in cages, but has made only minimal progress, with its website stating that only 5.2% of all the eggs it uses come from cage-free chickens. That’s despite the widespread availability of cage-free eggs and many companies already using, or being well on their way to using, 100% cage-free eggs—including Arby’s, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Nestle, Unilever, KraftHeinz, General Mills and many more.
