We’re super chuffed to be teaming up yet again with our favourite connoisseurs of Chinese and Asian sauces - the very fine people at Lee Kum Kee - to share our Summer Story with Lee Kum Kee. We have their sauces on a regular repeat at home so we’re excited to be sharing this recipe with you all, which uses their Dark Soy Sauce, Chiu Chow Chilli Oil and Pure Sesame Oil.
We are seriously obsessed with making homemade noodles right now - these will take you to the streets of China with Lee Kum Kee giving our noodles our desired Cantonese twist. This is also one of our favourite meals to cook during lockdown. The sauces deliver true Cantonese flavour from the comfort of our homes. Noodles are actually really, really simple to make at home - they only require a few ingredients - and you’ll master them in no time. We pair our homemade noodles with a truly delicious ‘meaty’ sauce, which packs a ton of flavour and we guarantee will have you licking the bowl at the end!
Here are the ingredients you’ll need (watch the video for the full method).
For the noodles:
200g plain flour
100ml water
1/2 tsp salt
For the ‘meaty’ sauce:
vegetable oil
1 onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, diced
1/2 thumb of ginger, diced
200g vegan mince
2 tbsp Lee Kum Kee Dark Soy Sauce
1 tsp Lee Kum Kee Seasoned Rice Vinegar
1 tsp Lee Kum Kee Chiu Chow Chilli Oil
1 tsp Lee Kum Kee Pure Sesame Oil
300ml vegetable stock
1/4 tsp Chinese 5 Spice
2 tsp maple syrup
pinch of pepper
1 spring onion, sliced
