End wildlife trade for the animals, the planet and our health
The global wildlife trade poses a horrific threat to animal welfare, our environment and human health.
The wildlife trade causes species to decline in the wild, putting already imperiled species at even greater risk. Vulnerable animals are ripped from their homes, shoved into tiny cages and transported to wildlife markets where they live in deplorable conditions until they are slaughtered for food or sold as pets.
The crowded and unsanitary conditions at these markets not only compromises animal welfare but also creates a breeding ground for new diseases. The world is watching in shock and despair as the deadly COVID-19 virus continues to spread. This current pandemic is another example of how deadly the wildlife trade can be.
Countries need to permanently ban the commerical trade, transport and consumption of wild animals.
