A Look Inside the Taiji Slaughterhouse
Save Japan Dolphins volunteer Leilani Munter's footage from a dolphin drive and slaughter. On October 11, 2010 a pod of dolphins were driven into the Cove in Taiji, Japan. The following day, many of them were slaughtered there. This is the footage she collected over those two days.
There are many recorded incidents throughout history of dolphins saving human lives - is this is how we repay them? Dolphins are intelligent, friendly, and self aware creatures with complex social structures and languages. They do not belong in aquariums. If you go to dolphin shows you are supporting the slaughter of thousands of innocent wild dolphins. (Watch The Cove to better understand the undeniable connection between the dolphin slaughter and the captivity industry). Dolphins are not ours to kill, eat, or kidnap from their families so we can make them do tricks for food. Dolphins belong in the ocean. Let them be.
Not everyone can travel to Taiji, but everyone can participate in the International Save Japan Dolphins Day on October 14, 2010. Please visit savejapandolphins.org/blog.htm... for details. More from Leilani can be found at carbonfreegirl.com
